Anti-Nitin Gadkari feud escalates as Ram Jethmalani's son Mahesh offers BJP's in-house challenge

Maverick BJP member Ram Jethmalani's son, the equally well-known lawyer Mahesh Jethmalani has said that he will throw his hat in the BJP presidential poll ring if there is no to challenge incumbent Nitin Gadkari.
A television channel quoted Jethmalani, as saying on Monday: "I am in favour of a contest against Mr Gadkari as BJP president.”
Jethmalani is reportedly upset about the possibility of Gadkari being re-elected unopposed after nominations are filed and scrutinised on January 23, when he is facing income tax department summons to explain his association with alleged dubious business transactions linked to the Purti Group.
BJP leaders like L K Advani, Shatrughan Sinha, Ram Jethmalani and Yashwant Sinha have also raised their voices in this regard.
On Sunday, the BJP issued a notification for its presidential election. Nomination papers for the top post will be filed on January 23 from 10 am to 11.30 am, and scrutiny will be held from 11.30 am to noon.
A date for the election will be declared if required after the withdrawal of nominations between noon and 12.30 pm, a BJP statement said.
