Delhi gang-rape: Hearing to begin in fast-track court today

New Delhi: The trial of five accused in December 16 Delhi gang-rape case is set to begin in a fast-track court on Monday. 

The special court is expected to conduct the trial on a day-to-day basis in the case. 

The 23-year-old medical student was gang-raped and brutally tortured by six people including a juvenile in a moving bus last year. She died of her injuries in a Singapore hospital on December 29.
Six persons, including a 17-year-old boy, was apprehended in connection with the incident, which evoked widespread outrage and anger and triggered violent protests in India Gate and Raisina Hill. 

Huge protests were witnessed across the country, especially in the national capital demanding strict anti-rape laws, death penalty for all the accused and measure to ensure safety for women. 

The Juvenile Justice Board is expected to deliver its verdict on the age of the minor accused on January 28.
