Manakada became first assembly constituency completing civil registration digitization


KOCHI: After the successful implementation of number of prestigious IT projects includingAkshaya, the Malappuram district has successfully implemented another model IT project. Now, all the services of local bodies are on a mouse click away in Manakada constituency in the district.
The constituency was declared as the first assembly constituency in the country which completely digitized the civil registration processes in all it's local bodies on Saturday by social welfare minister M K Muneer. The civil registration processes including the death and birth registration of all panchayats in the constituency can be done through online from Saturday onwards.
Speaking about the mile stone achievement, the T A Ahammed KabeerMLA told TOI that the project will make all the official procedures of civil registration in local bodies easier by resolving problem of long queues and it also will help to ensure transparency. 'The certificates of all local bodies in the constituency can be downloaded from anywhere in the world. The application also can be submitted through online. The services like distribution of certificates-registration processes, application for various schemes that are being implemented through local bodies can be accessible through online. Sand pass distribution would also be done online in these panchayats', he said.
Kumbla in Kasargod district was the first panchayat in the state which was implemented complete digitization and the second panchayat was Makkaraparamba in the Mankada constituency. The digitization process in about 40 panchayats in the district is also in final stage.
Though registration of birth and death were made compulsory under a special Act there has been large scale under registration in several panchayats and districts in the state. The digitization will help for recognizing the reliable data for socio-economic development and implementation of family welfare measures, said MLA.
