MNS protest disrupts traffic on Western Express Highway

Office goers and students were affected today due to the blockade of traffic movement by the workers of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) at Kherwadi junction in protest against the "mismanagement" of traffic rules.

The activists of the Raj Thackeray-led outfit held a demonstration before the Regional Transport Office (RTO) in suburban Bandra and later blocked the traffic movement in the area.

"Our demand is that there should not be overloading in heavy vehicles. Limited goods should be carried in heavy vehicles," MNS MLA Ram Kadam said.

The MNS agitation also affected several people going to the airport to catch their flights.
Long queues of vehicles stretching as long as four kilometres were seen on the Western Express Highway with commuters waiting for the traffic jam to be cleared.
