Samsung working on Galaxy Fonblet with 5.8-inch screen

Samsung made the concept of a phablet popular with its Galaxy Note, which had a 5.3-inch screen. After making the word 'phablet' mainstream, the South Korean manufacturer looks set to add another odd word to our dictionary - fonblet.

According to technology blog SamMobile, the company is working on a new device calledSamsung Galaxy Fonblet 5.8. Citing an insider at Samsung, the blog said this smartphone will be codenamed GT-I9152, hinting at dual-sim capabilities. The report said this device may run on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean), though Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) was also a possibility. The report said this device will be available in white colour in the European market initially.

The only other device in Samsung's portfolio with a 5.8-inch display is the Galaxy Player 5.8, which is sold only in South Korea. This device has a TFT touchscreen with resolution of 960x540p and runs on Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). This music player features a 3MP camera on the back and can connect to other devices via Bluetooth 4.0 and access the internet over Wi-Fi. It comes with 16 and 32GB memory options, along with microSD support.

Samsung is expected to launch previously announced devices like Galaxy S III MiniGalaxy Premier and Galaxy Grand in India soon.
